Are tourists required to wear sandals when they travel to the Middle East?

Alot of people wear sandals in the middle east, so is it required for tourists to wear sandals there? I think it would look a little awkward for everyone to be wearing sandals, and there is one person who is wearing pearl-white sneakers. So are tourists required to wear sandals or are they expected or what?

Are tourists required to wear sandals when they travel to the Middle East?
It isn%26#039;t required. You can wear whatever you%26#039;d like.
Reply:i wonder where are you going, we in Syria dont wear sandals,

i was in Saudi arabia, they wear sandals, but you can wear any thing yu like no problem, you are free to wear what would you like, in every country people wear things according to the nature of their country but no one ask visitors to wear same....

good luck
Reply:Where are you plan to go? and no people wear sandals because is very comfortable and is HOT you can wear tennis or anything you like.
Reply:There is no such requirement. People in the Middle East wear sandals because they are used to them and they%26#039;re cheap and easy to make, not because they are required. However, a lot of people doing travelling nowadays wear sandals because of the security requirement that we take our shoes off going through detector systems in airports -- sandals (or flip-flops) are easier to shuck off.
Reply:No you can put anything on your feet you want to.I don%26#039;t understand where the sandal thing got started.
Reply:yeah, i don%26#039;t think it is rewuired. all they have to wear might be scarf in addition to their normal clothing.
Reply:I think you%26#039;re probably quite welcome to wear kodiaks or any other brand of insulated winter footwear, but the average temperature of probably something like 105 degrees fahrenheit discourages such behaviour.
Reply:It is not required to wear sandals, I think most people do because of the heat . But you can wear any type of footwear that you like, I lived in the Middle East and i wore boots, shoes, tennis shoes and sandals. But the sandals are cheap and easy to take off when you enter someones home.

Reply:if you think you can withstand the heat in your shoes then you might not need sandals. but the way i see it, you better get one.
