Are tourists required to wear sandals when they travel to the Middle East?

Alot of people wear sandals in the middle east, so is it required for tourists to wear sandals there? I think it would look a little awkward for everyone to be wearing sandals, and there is one person who is wearing pearl-white sneakers. So are tourists required to wear sandals or are they expected or what?

You can wear whatever you want.

In Gulf countries: UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi ..), Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Saudia Arabia) most of native men wear traditional dress including sandal because of the host wether, but any person in these countries is free to wear whatever he/she wants, and there are many forigners in these countries that do wear whatever they like.

However, in other countries in the Middle East, like: Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Israel (Occupied Palestine), people don%26#039;t wear sandals unless it%26#039;s a fashion.
Reply:You can wear anything you feel like in the Middle East.

In summer time -in the Gulf area- it get so hot, that you feel you want to wear sandals after long day at work, if you feel you want to walk around.

You have a total freedom to dress the way you want, but decent. Just like some other places.
Reply:No.

and not everyone wear sandals, in some part of middle east is not nice to wear sandals.

you can wear what ever kind of shoes that you like but if you are woman and going to Iran you have to cover yourself. but not any other country in that area ( as far as I know )
Reply:Sandals belong to the traditional outfit for men (dishdash). But of course you can wear any kind of shoes.

In some Clubs at the weekend it is even required for men NOT to wear sandals as long as you are not a UAE National wearing the dishdash.
Reply:Wear whatever you%26#039;re comfy in.
Reply:who cares wear what ever u like......
